In this case, the term “guest house” is only being used loosely. An important part of our client’s vision was that it feel like a true stand-alone home, with its own integrity and a true sense of privacy.

A simple, elemental structure emerging out of the landscape, the house is dramatic and yet quiet at the same time, with one side a solid, uninterrupted concrete wall.

All of the primary rooms feel completely open to the landscape, and a subtle palette of materials, featuring concrete, limestone, zinc, and walnut visually connect the home to the surrounding terrain.

Light and integration of the outdoors and indoors plays a role in even the most hidden of spaces, bringing a sense of openness and connectivity between the house and its setting.

The objective of creating the perfect small house required functional spaces, such as the kitchen, to be compact yet highly efficient..
